张士柏的姐姐张士梅出生在纽约的Queens，在加州的Cupertino长大。
大学毕业获得大众传媒学位后，她来到她的祖籍--父亲的家乡中国北仑，给当地的英语教师进行英语口语培训。在北仑一年的日子里，张士梅热衷于教育并完成了她的处女作《美国护照中国心》，书中记录了她在中国的所见所闻。
从那时起，她开始全身心地致力于写作并多次在美国的文学杂志上和中国她的专栏中发表文章。另外，她还与天津电视台和编并亲自翻译了以她的弟弟生活故事为题材的七集电视剧《生命交响曲》剧本。
1995年她与弟弟共同举办了英语广播教学节目《张士柏英语网》(PEN)。姐弟俩采用了寓教于乐(edutainment)的教学方法，使学习充满了乐趣。张士柏和姐姐张士梅想通过这种令人激动充满乐趣的空中学习环境来提高人们的英语学习兴趣。而且节目采取双语教学形式，即吸引了初学者也能满足高层次的学生。

Michelle Chang is Patrick’s sister. She was born in Queens, New York, but grew up in Cupertino, California.
After graduating from college with a degree in mass communications, she traveled to her father’s hometown in Beilun, China, and taught conversational English to the local English teachers. During her one-year stay in Beilun, Michelle discovered her interest in education and also wrote her first book, American Passport, Chinese Heart, a memoir capturing her experience in China.
Since then, she has dedicated herself to writing. Several of her short stories were published in literary magazines in America and her columns in China. In addition, she worked as a co-writer and translator for Tianjin Television Station on the seven-episode TV series, The Symphony of Life, which was based on her brother’s life story.
In 1995, she co-founded the popular English educational radio program, Patrick English Network (PEN). In order to make learning fun, the brother and sister team adopted the concept of edutainment (education combined with entertainment). By creating an exciting and fun-loving on-air learning environment, Patrick and Michelle hoped to heighten people’s interest in English and learning. Furthermore, the program’s bilingual format helped to attract beginners as well as advanced students.
To better meet the needs of its listeners, PEN developed a website (www.pen123.com) for which Michelle serves as the content director.
Michelle now lives with her husband in Los Angeles, spending most of her time writing and teaching Yoga. She says the best way to get to know her is to read her work and visit the website often. |
